After many months of writing, recording and mixing, I finally have my 21 songs finished. Rough CDs have been handed out and I now await input from others to help me choose the strongest tracks for my new album. Once I have received everyone’s ideas and opinions I will no doubt be back at the mixing desk (well, my computer) making various alterations (maybe even further recording) to create any necessary improvements. I will then select the running order before the CD is mastered. As you will gather from all this, although my initial recording may have finished, I’ve still a fair way to go before I can happily say that the album is complete. I’m determined to make this album my finest work to date, in songwriting, performance and production. As I also stated in my previous blog, I do not intend to set a release date until I can afford to promote it’s release to full effect. I do genuinely believe I have written some of my best songs for this album but I want to make sure the whole package is as flawless as I can make it.

On a slightly more sour note, I failed my second driving test last week. I felt completely confident and believed everything to have gone perfectly. My given manoeuvre (the same one that caused me to fail my first attempt) went smoothly and everything just seemed to flow. As we pulled into the test centre I must have looked like a cat that got the cream, just waiting to hear the words ‘Well, Carl, I’m pleased to say you have passed’. I was sure I had. My facial expression must have dropped like a sack of shit when he told me I’d failed. Without knowing it, I had edged out too far whilst waiting at a red light two minutes into the test. I was absolutely gutted and sulked for the next two days. That one mistake cost a me a near perfect test and another £62 to retake the test, on top on further lessons. Still, perseverance will pay off when I’m driving to gigs outside the Teesside area on a regular basis.

Before I go, I would like to ask you wonderful people a small favour. For those of you who already own some of my previous releases, I would be extremely grateful to you if you would be kind enough to give one of my CD’s a short review on my iTunes and Amazon pages (links below). Simply click on your chosen CD and then click on write a review. Any positive comments and opinions will be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Carl.
